iFlix Water Tower Brings Celebration to the Whole Village

In 2005, Danny & Pam Spitler made a small donation to drill a water well for a family in Cambodia. Eleven years later Spitler School has collaborated with IFLIX and Planet Water to provide clean water for almost 800 students at Spitler School and their families. It has been an amazing journey from a little well to a large elementary school. Access to clean water continues to be a significant health problem especially in rural areas of Cambodia.

We are extremely grateful to IFLIX and their employees, who not only provided funding for the water tank and filtering system, but several of their employees visited Spitler School and did volunteer work on the campus in addition to attending graduation ceremonies. We also appreciate the work and collaboration of Planet Water. This organization is providing water systems in many areas of the world that are in desperate need of clean water.

New classroom building

Wedding Bells Build a New Classroom!

New classroom buildingThis classroom is being made possible through the generosity of the friends and family of Caryn and Howard Unger of New York. We congratulate Caryn and Howard on their recent marriage, and we are very grateful that they used this occasion to raise the funds needed to build, equip, and to staff this new classroom.

The classroom will occupy the last available classroom space on the campus, and was sorely needed as we are expecting a record number of students to begin the new school year on November 1. We look forward to sharing more about this exciting project in our November newsletter.

Teachers donation

We Need Your Help

Teachers donationSpitler School will be facing an unprecedented financial challenge during the coming school year. There is now a severe shortage of teachers in Cambodia. In order to maintain the high standards at Spitler School we will need to make significant increases to our teachers’ salaries during the coming year. While teachers’ salaries in Cambodia are very low compared to most countries there is still a significant expense in staffing two campuses with over 800 students. Teacher’s monthly salaries are currently $150 and should rise to $230 by April 2017.

We sincerely hope that you will consider a gift to the Spitler School Foundation during 2016, which will give us the ability to maintain our staff of quality teachers at Spitler School.  + More information about donations
