Speaking of Savings…

Now is the time when many are planning the perfect family photo for the upcoming holiday card season.  Don’t forget that you can save 20% on all purchases through Minted.com. Just use promo code FUNDRAISESPITLER and Minted will also donate proceeds to the Spitler School Foundation.

Don’t Forget U.S. Tax Savings

Three members of the Spitler family have reached the celebrated ages in excess of 70 ½ years old which requires them to take a distribution each year from their IRA or 401k plans. For those who have reached that age in the U.S., there is a significant tax savings in designating that distribution, or some portion thereof, to go directly to a 501c3 charitable organization. If you have reached a similar “senior” status and would like to take advantage of the potential tax savings within the U.S. while also making a huge impact on the lives of Cambodia children, please ask you financial advisor about making this kind of a distribution, or simply contact us, and we can provide additional information.

As we look toward the end of the Cambodian school year, and our upcoming graduations at the end of September, we send our sincere thanks for your loyal support of the Spitler School Foundation.

Sadness and Joy for Our Cambodian Family

“Sorrow and celebration can coexist together in a heart quite authentically.  We don’t have to pick one or the other. We can simply have both” ~ Lysa TerKeurst

We send our sincere condolences and prayers to Mary and Sarin and their family at the passing of Mary’s father, Ton Chap. May they find comfort in the cherished moments they shared together.

We also send our congratulations to Mary and Sarin at the engagement of their oldest daughter, Vita. Vita was a shy, four-year old when we partnered with her father in 2005 to build the first classrooms at Spitler School. Now she is a beautiful, confident 22-year old woman about to start a new life with her fiancé, Tep Ratha. We send them, and both families, the best of wishes in this joyous time.

Hong Kong Study Group Visits Spitler School

We are happy to share a report from Sineth Khorn, a Spitler School administrator and English teacher:

“Mr. Sanderson Scott Wayne from Canada led a group from QSI International School of Shenyang, in Hong Kong, China, on a trip to Cambodia for a study exchange.
During their visit, they connected with Spitler Primary School’s principal and organized a full day of sessions focused on environmental conservation.  The event included both indoor and outdoor activities, providing a comprehensive educational experience for the students.”

We are always excited to see such enthusiasm in sharing new subjects to our students and we continue to be humbled by the service of volunteers.
